Senate Finance Committee Reviews the National Billing System

Amman, April 24  – The Financial and Economic Committee in the Senate, headed by Dr. Rajai Muasher, was briefed today, Thursday, on the National Billing System, in the presence of the Director General of the Income and Sales Tax Department, Dr. Hussam Abu Ali.

Dr. Muasher stated that the meeting aimed to gain insight into the billing system, the challenges faced during its implementation, and its role in achieving tax reforms, emphasizing the importance of applying the billing system to ensure fairness for all.

For his part, Dr. Abu Ali presented the billing system and its operational mechanism, explaining that the system, which aims to regulate electronic billing, has evolved from a paper-based system to an electronic one in cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Economy.

He pointed out that the billing system represents a qualitative leap in implementing tax reforms, stressing that the system seeks to gradually include all economic sectors and to unify the invoicing standards for all taxpayers.

He also noted that the department has implemented an awareness plan and held extensive discussions with targeted sectors to introduce the system, highlight its importance, and explain the procedures for using it. He affirmed the department’s flexibility in addressing any issues that taxpayers might face while implementing the electronic billing system.
