Amman, March 19 - The Senate Energy and Mineral Resources Committee, chaired by Eng. Farouq Al-Hiyari, discussed the strategy and projects of the Jordan Petroleum Refinery Company (JPRC) in its meeting today, Wednesday, in the presence of the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Jordan Petroleum Refinery Company, Eng. Abdul Rahim Al-Baqaei.
Al-Hiyari stated that the JPRC plays a fundamental role in enhancing energy security in the Kingdom by supplying the local market with the vast majority of its needs for various petroleum derivatives.
He pointed out that the company has provided thousands of job opportunities for citizens and encourages the development of other new industries. He praised its contribution to the sustainability of important sectors such as electricity, transportation, industry, and construction.
Al-Hiyari emphasized that the fourth refinery expansion project is included in the executive program of the Economic Modernization Vision within the Energy Infrastructure Development Initiative, which requires intensified efforts to ensure the success of this project.
In turn, Al-Buqai presented the company's current efforts and projects to maximize and improve the quality of the refinery's products to meet European and national specifications, and to meet the local market's needs for petroleum derivatives through the implementation of the fourth expansion project after updating its economic feasibility study.
He stated that the refinery is constantly improving its performance and is committed to the licenses granted to it and to all activities related to refining, distribution, jet fuel, mineral oils, and petroleum derivative storage, including LPG filling stations. He noted that the refinery is a source of qualified and trained personnel in various fields of expertise.
The committee members, for their part, praised the importance of the refinery's role and the need to continue efforts to implement the company's planned projects, which are part of the executive program of the Economic Modernization Vision. They also emphasized the need to continue working to improve the specifications of the petroleum derivatives produced and maximize its social responsibilities.
