Conclusion of the National Higher Education Conference

Dead Sea, May 10 – The National Higher Education Conference, held under the theme “From Vision to Implementation,” concluded today, Saturday, at the Dead Sea. The three-day event was held under the patronage of Senate President Faisal El-Fayez and was organized by the Senate’s Public Services Committee, in coordination with nine other joint committees.

The closing session, moderated by Dr. Mustafa Hamarneh, Chair of the Public Services Committee, featured the participation of Dr. Rima Hassan, Dr. Sally Hamarneh, Dr. Sami Al-Hourani, and Khaled Al-Banna, and focused on presenting the final recommendations and discussing the future course of action.

In his remarks, Dr. Hamarneh emphasized the significance of the conference, noting that all participants are partners in the effort to bridge the knowledge gap in higher education. He highlighted the importance of reaching consensus on a clear roadmap and establishing effective follow-up and evaluation mechanisms that contribute to the formulation of practical and actionable policies.

The conference concluded with a set of important recommendations aimed at supporting the development of the higher education sector. These included the creation of a legislative framework to strengthen collaboration among universities, redirecting scientific research toward national priorities with funding directed to projects of national relevance, and guiding research efforts to provide effective solutions to social issues. Additionally, the recommendations called for strengthening innovation and economic development, supporting institutional research collaboration, and developing robust systems for tracking and assessing research outcomes.

Dr. Hamarneh stressed the need to further develop the educational process in Jordan and transform existing challenges into opportunities. He affirmed that education is an integral component of the national modernization effort and a vital tool for enhancing capabilities and advancing higher education and scientific research.
