Senate’s Labor Committee Visits Jordan Post Company, Reviews Its Plans

Amman, July 1 – The Labor and Social Development Committee in the Senate, headed by Senator Issa Murad, visited the Jordan Post Company today, Tuesday. During the visit, the committee met with the company’s Chairman of the Board, Sami Al-Dawood, and its Director, Hanadi Al-Tayyeb, and was briefed on the company’s training and qualification plans within employment programs.

Senator Murad stated that the visit aimed to review the training plans and programs offered by the company’s International Academy in the fields of e-commerce and logistics, related to vocational and technical education, and to explore the company’s role in implementing national visions on empowering youth and providing sustainable job opportunities in the logistics services sector.

He added that the visit also sought to identify the challenges and obstacles facing the company in implementing training and employment programs and to discuss ways of supporting the company in line with the Senate’s legislative and oversight roles, appreciating the efforts made by the company.

For his part, Al-Dawood noted that Jordan Post is one of the state’s major achievements and key infrastructure projects, adding that the meeting represented a fruitful opportunity to enhance the company’s work and cooperation with the Senate’s Labor and Social Development Committee.

He reviewed completed plans and programs, including the e-commerce and express shipping customs center project. He pointed out that the company, in cooperation with the Crown Prince Foundation, launched a training initiative to empower youth in e-marketing.

Al-Dawood noted that the company introduced a package of training programs in cooperation with the Institute of Public Administration in the field of e-commerce, and established an International Academy for E-commerce, granting diplomas in e-commerce and logistics.

He confirmed that the program is available to those wishing to train and qualify, targeting both youth and women, and works to ease obstacles through logistics services provided by the company. Among these services are prepaid cards, developed in cooperation with Visa, to facilitate transactions for beneficiaries of the National Aid Fund and Jordanian students abroad.

He also highlighted the company’s role in delivering medicines to beneficiaries of the Royal Medical Services, along with projects such as vehicle and scooter financing in collaboration with the Development and Employment Fund, aimed at creating delivery jobs for youth, and the National Addressing Project, which organizes e-commerce processes.

Al-Dawood explained that the company has invested in its underutilized assets across the governorates in partnership with local communities, and that it serves Jerusalemites by transferring passports and documents from the Civil Status Department under a royal initiative to support the steadfastness of residents in Jerusalem. He stressed that the company’s plans and programs have boosted its profits, reduced its losses, and lowered its indebtedness.

The committee members — Senators Fadel Al-Hamoud, Dr. Mohammad Al-Wahsh, Mustafa Al-Bazayeh, Dr. Mahasen Al-Jaghoub, Asia Yaghi, and Naseema Al-Fakhri — toured the Stamp Museum, where they learned about the Kingdom’s history since the founding of the Emirate. They commended the efforts of Jordan Post in documenting the nation’s history and its work in training and empowering youth.
