Amman, July 1 – The Senate’s Energy and Mineral Resources Committee, headed by Senator Eng. Farouq Al-Hyari, visited today, Tuesday, the strategic petroleum derivatives facilities in Amman owned by the Jordan Petroleum Facilities Logistics Company.
The visit aimed to review the status of the Kingdom’s strategic petroleum stock at the company’s facilities in Amman and Aqaba, and the efforts to maintain an adequate and appropriate reserve.
During the meeting, Al-Hyari stressed the importance of continuously maintaining a strategic stockpile of petroleum derivatives around the clock and in sufficient quantities for approved timeframes, in accordance with market requirements, to ensure energy supply security during emergencies. He emphasized the need for full coordination with licensed private-sector petroleum distributors under the direct supervision and oversight of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission, while taking into account the objectives, projects, and programs of the Economic Modernization Vision in this field.
He added that the Senate, through the Energy and Mineral Resources Committee, will continue to support the efforts of the Jordan Petroleum Facilities Logistics Company and enable it to implement its strategic plans and programs.
For his part, the company’s Director General, Eng. Ashraf Al-Rawashdeh, reviewed the efforts made to maintain a strategic reserve of petroleum derivatives, including the required quantities and specifications.
He noted that the company’s various facilities in Amman and Aqaba focus on operational efficiency, environmental protection, public safety, and adherence to the highest international standards of quality, health, safety, environment, and security.
During the visit, committee members were briefed with a detailed presentation on the company’s current and future plans, as well as the mechanisms and technologies used to maintain the reserve at the required capacities and specifications.
The committee members expressed their appreciation for the national role played by the Jordan Petroleum Facilities Logistics Company in enhancing the Kingdom’s energy security.
